Climate
The warmest month are July and August, with average temperatures of 28 degrees Celsius the day time.
However, a prevailing north, north east wind brings some fresh air and cools you down.In winter time it is and 10-18 degrees Celsius.
During spring Ios is much greener, almost beyond recognition in comparison to summer period.
The tourist office (telephone 91028) is located at the pier, offering information and reservations for accommodation. The tourist office opens half an hour prior after boat departures.

Local people, waiting for you at the port, will allways help you to arrange suitable accommodation, or you can check with travel agents for further information.

Post office
The The post office is located in Chora. Opening hours: Monday to Friday from 7.30 am. to 2.00 pm.
Water
It is not advisable to drink water from the tap. Three are a few wells with drinking water, which have a special sign.

The national access code of Greece is 30. The area code is 22860, which should be attached to all local numbers when calling from an other country.

Phoning from Ios
The telephone company O.T.E has an office in Chora where you can make your collect calls. On Ios you also find card phones. The phone cards are on sale at the O.T.E office, in the supermarkets, at kiosks and in the travel agencies.
Getting around
Ios has buses that run between the port, Chora and Mylopotas every 15 minutes. There is also a bus to Koumbara from the port every hour. Tickets on the buses cost around 0,5 euro per route. This is a fixed fee regardless of where you're going. The bus driver will normally stop in front of some hotels on the way and in the regular bus stop locations.
Excursion buses
This buses run to Aghia Theodoti beach, or Manganari beach every day leaving from the port, Chora and Mylopotas beach. These buses return later in the evening. For more information about this excursions contact the travel agencies on Ios.
Taxis
There are a few taxis on the island that run between the Port, Chora and Mylopotas. Taxi rides to Aghia Theodoti and Maganari can be arranged without problem to a good price.
